16th July, Thursday
Participated in Dear Dear's department outing.
We went East Coast Park for bowling and had our dinner at Long Beach Seafood restaurant.
We were late for the bowling and we did not get to finish bowling one game.

But the food is nice and most importantly, there's crabs for dinner! I ate pepper crab for the first time. It is so spicy that my eyes were tearing...

15th July, Wednesday
Company social outing to Settlers Cafe.
It is my first outing with my new colleagues. Fun but we only played one game throughout. Taboo, a game that is easy to understand and is suitable for a large group.

11th July, Saturday
Celebrated Dear Dear's grandma's birthday at The Paramount, a Chinese restaurant located at Paramount Hotel basement. It is the first time that Dear Dear's cousin bought all her three kids to the family outing! These kids are definitely hard to handle at one go... LOL.

The restaurant serves relative nice dishes but the environment outside the restaurant is quite sleazy. A lot of the ladies standing outside the pubs, openly asking for businesses. It was quite surprising as I had been to Paramount Hotel's Cafe for a few times for buffet but was totally unaware of such a scene at the basement of the hotel. But I guess they are harmless, many people still patronise that restaurant.

5th July, Sunday

Watched 3D movie, Ice Age with my family @ AMK Hub Cathay.
The 3D effect was not much needed for this movie. The special eye-wear that we wore in order to see the 3D effect was a hassle rather than an added enjoyment to the movie. This is especially true for those who are already wearing their own spectacles. It kept slipping down as my nose bridge cannot support 2 eye wears... I could have enjoyed the show more...

3rd July, Friday

Kev went to meet Kok Koon, Weiliang and Desmond.

Whereas I met up with Xian, Min, Hao and Edmund @ Marina Square Kenny Rogers. The muffins there are still as good as before *Yummy*

After the dinner, Hao drove us to Geline's place. We went home after watching some variety shows and chit chatting there for a few hours.

Watched Transformer at Great World City Cinema. It is no where near its rating of half a star... it's actually quite a good show!

After the movie, we took the shuttle bus to city hall and went to Breeks at Marina Square. The one-for-one ice cream offer for June is ending soon, so we went there for the ice cream since we are around that area.

I had not been to Breeks for years.... the last time was in upper sec when the Breeks at Marina Square had not been turned into a cafe yet.

Dear dear and I had been looking around for HP pouch that is sleek, probably similar to the pouch for the E71 nokia hp. We went to a few shops and all the pouches are very bulky. The phone itself if not slim already, plus the bulky pouch will only make it looks very clumsy... Haiz, will continue looking for the ideal one.

We met up with Jan yesterday. Jan loses so much weight! His clothes looked really loose on him. Jan, if you can maintain this size, I think you will need to buy new clothes ;p

The price is reasonable and the food taste good.

11th June 09
Met up with my PwC tablemates at SMU Settler's Cafe.
We wanted to have Fish and Chips for dinner, but the cafe ran out of fish!
So all of us ended up having Chicken Cutlet or Chicken Chop...

We started off with something light so as to get our brain warmed up. Then we played "Cranium", a game introduced by Melvin.

It is an interesting game though I hope that they can come out with a Singapore version. I don't know so many of the persons that the questions were referring to! Mainly those old english artists during our parents or even grandparents's time.

Anyway, I only stayed until 8.30pm as I have to wake up for work early next morning. Nowadays, I will start to get sleepy at around 10.30pm, hee...

There was an official welcome lunch for Chai Leng and I at Peach Garden.
Peach Garden served a specialty, Shark's Cartilage Soup, which is quite unique. Actually I like the soup but it makes my mouth feel so sticky that I would not want to drink it so often. Anyway, I think it is too expensive for me to drink it often. haha!

Dear dear's CFA exams are finally over! Looking at him studying, I feel that studying as a working adult is really a torture. I wonder how my sister make it through these years...

EPS gathering after work turned out to be just Hock Jin, Kang Mai, Sock Ying and me. Haven't seen Sock Ying for years...
We had our dinner at Crystal Jade and desserts at MOF, must really thank the 2 guy who paid the meals for the day. Thank you.

Hock Jin is still studying and Kang Mai is still with Schenker.
Sock Ying is with RBC as Fund Administrator and has a cute little 1 1/2 year old daughter. Your figure is still so good even after giving birth, envy you leh!

After work, I met up with Dear Dear to catch a movie at Cineleisure, "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past". It is quite a nice show, and some parts can be touching. Worthwhile show to watch.

28th May

Today is my 1st day at my new company, no break between my resignation day and my 1st day of work. My manager treated my colleagues and I for lunch at an Italian Restaurant along Boat Quay.

My day ends early as they have not started handing over the daily tasks to me. I hope that I have landed somewhere more suitable for me.

27th May

Today is my last day with PwC. I was busy doing clearance for the 1st half of the day. Many of my runmates were in the office today, so I get to have lunch with about 10 of them :p It had been a long time since we have this amount of strength ever since the peak begins. Or at least for the days when I am back at office...

Veena is also leaving PwC a few weeks later on 19 June to be a teacher.

9th May

It has been long long time since we played Mj! Gary, Hanwen, Kev & I played Mj at my house. Hanwen is really a bit mad, he came after his KPMG Dragon Boat training and was going back to Malaysia that evening after the Mj... Sometimes, I really take my hat off him.

As usual, it is a brain-wrecking session plus some gossipings and updates ;p

5th May
Today is the last day for 3 A1s, Sock Tin is one of them. So we have a farewell lunch for her at Bia Fu @ Far East Square. Do keep in touch, Sock Tin :)

01st - 02nd May - Malacca Trip

01st May

Waking up early in the morning at 4plus am and still caught in the jam at the Malaysian custom. We are supposed to meet Brandon and Jeni at the Singapore custom by 5.15am, not to leave house at 5.15am! By the time we reach Malacca is about 10am

Our 1st station at Malacca is to have the chicken rice ball for lunch.

Hmm... Hainaiese chicken rice still taste better. Hee...

After the lunch, we went for a walk nearby.

I remember there is a place where all the buildings are in red when I was there 13 years ago... Here it is! 13 years later, I am here again with my dear dear :)

We walked around the Red city of Malacca, looking for hotel to stay overnight. We spent about 30min-an hour before we settled down at the Queenspark Hotel.

It is a new hotel near Mahkota Parade Shopping Mall, the shopping centre which most tourists there patronise. Cheap and good!

We went to Mahkota to shop and had late lunch at the foodcourt before going for our dinner. The claypot rice at the foodcourt is great!

We queue for more than half an hour for the luk luk satay. It is like steamboat style and everything will taste like... satay sauce. The way of eating luk luk satay is not very hygienic, so for those who are very particular about hygiene, I guess you will definitely give this a miss.

Night at Jonger Walk. Jonger walk is like Singapore's pasar malang except that it is very very crowded. Dear dear bought a scarf for me wor, thanks dear!

Finally, we found seats at the famous Ice Kachang Stall.

2nd May

Lunch @ Newton Culture Food Village. My hot plate is disappointing, but dear dear and I agreed that the tea here is good :p

After the shopping, my brother and Brandon suggested massage...

We went to a place nearby to look for Massage Salon and they decided on "Hua Tuo Massage Salon". Kev & I gave it a miss and went to the vegetarian cafe opposite the salon. Dear dear and I always have things to talk abt :D

Finally, it was home sweet home after that.... a 3-4 hours journey back to SG.

28 April - Tendering my Resignation with PwC
It really does not feel good to tender... Leaving a place where I am familiar with and leaving the big family esp my runmates. My whole day was quite down after tendering. Perhaps it's due to the uncertainty that I am feeling, or perhaps it's the feeling of unable to let go, or perhaps it's a mixed feeling of both.

12 April - Celebrate Kev's cousin, Nana's 21st Bday @ Pasir Ris Downtown East Chalet
Nana was busy entertaining the guests and Nana's sis, Stephanie had been really helpful that day, BBQ-ing for the guests. She was perspiring all over, I wonder is that why our food taste a bit salty, haha! j/k, the food taste just right.

Cute little nephews turned up for her bday too, although one of them was absence. Serene and Alvin only choose 2 out of the 3 boys when they are attending events. In this case, Dominic (eldest) and Mathew (youngest) were there, Benedict stays home and sleep, he loves to sleep anyway.

Even though I have no plan to celebrate my bday anymore, somehow it was still celebrated this year, twice.

15 March - My bday celebration cum after-peak tablemates gathering @ Sun with Moon Clark Quay
It was my 1st time dinning at Sun with Moon. The presentation of the food is very nice. The taste was ok for me, didn't wow me but didn't turn me off either.

Thanks tablemates. My journey at PwC won't be as great if it was without you.

06 March - My bday and Yixian's bday celebration at Bakerzin Suntec
It is the 12th Bday since I know you girls and it is probably the 11th bday that you girls are celebrating for me. Great thanks to you girls!!! Oh yah, thanks Ziwei for turning up too! I think it's my 1st bday celebration that you turned up, lol.

The cheese cake that you girls ordered for me was fantastic!!! I finished the whole piece on my own even though I was very full after taking the main course.

My sis held her ROM at Aloha Changi Chalet G and many friends and relatives had been invited to this solemnization ceremony.

It was very nice of Karin & with the help of Karen who spent a few nights editing a video of popo. It was a nice "movie screening" of popo's life for everyone.

21 Feb - Dinner with relatives at Hougang
This is the 2nd dinner at Hougang these 2 months. This time is because my brother strike 4D, his new car plate number won him the 1st prize.

I think my brother and Jayne is meant to be together and here's the reason why: One day, Jayne asked my brother to get her the $6k proposal ring, and that night, my brother strike 4D after telling her that he will buy for her only if he strike 4D on that night.
Oops, no more backing out for my brother.

20 Feb - EPS Gathering at Chong Qing Lao Huo Guo opp Shaw Tower.
The food there was nothing fantastic to me although there is a long queue of people waiting for the seats. Perhaps I am not a big fan of the seafood. After the dinner, we went to Brekz opp Bugis Junction to catch up with each other.

It has been more than 10 years since we know each other, it was a nice catch up session. Some updates:
Irene is now a teacher for history and literature.

This Genting trip is the most disorganised trip I have ever been to.
The agent's arrangement went wrong everywhere!

1) Not enough coach seats allocated to us when we were on the way to Genting
2) Making us shift to another rooms on the 2nd day
3) Again, there was not enough coach seats allocated to us when we were on the way back to Singapore
4) The air conditioner on the coach broke down in about an hour after our coach left Genting

We are at Yun2 Ding3...

In the morning, our run participated in the PwC Netball Mixed Carnival.

We have Sasha, Aida, Jovial, Sheena, Irene, me, Eugene, Hanwei, Boon Long, Shijie, Terence and Jesper in the team. Thanks Irene for forming the team! Although we did not qualify for the semi-final, we had great fun playing netball together ;p

All of you had played well that day!

Thanks Melvin for coming down even though he could not join us for the game due to his back injury.

Taran who joined the run3 for this Netball Mixed Carnival deserved to be punished (j/k):

In the afternoon, Irene and I stayed on for the Corporate League Finals.
Both our PwC mixed and ladies teams did fantastic and won both titles!
Thank you to our coach, Wai Yee! She put in a lot of effort and had given us many sound advices. Even though she is pregnant, she always come down for our trainings and cheer us on during our matches.
Hey girls! You all have played so gracefully!

In the evening, dear dear and I met up with Gary, Hanwen, Desmond, Wai Leong, Kok Koon and Hardi (Kok Koon's friend) for dinner. We managed to catch the 2nd last bus to Gary's house for mj.

This is my highest winnings record ever, 29 in 1 round! Gary, that wooden chair is really a lucky chair ;p

Playing mj overnight is so tiring, I almost fell asleep halfway.... zzzz. No more mj overnight pls..

Today is a day for celebration.

Good News number 1:
Dear dear's play station 1 has been repaired and it's working well now.

Also, we are celebrating our 2years 11months today at the Night Safari :)

This is my 1st time visiting the night safari, and it's dear dear's 2nd visit since his last visit in primary school.

Going to watch the animals show, Creatures of the Night....

The animal show is less interesting as the animals only appear on the stage for a while. Some just pass by the stage so quickly that I could not even take a good look at them.

It was deepavali... where light triumphs over darkness....

Night Safari in October this year is different from usual as it has been decorated according to the Halloween theme.

Night Safari starts at 7.30pm, so we only have about 3hours or so to walk the trail. However, it is sufficient as the trail is quite short. Some animals at Night Safari may hide themselves and you can't find them at their "home".

We could not take many pictures as we are not allow to use flash when taking pictures of the animals. Animals that come out in the night are usually dark coloured which make photo taking of them more difficult. Haha!

Anyway, we find that Zoological Garden is a more worthwhile place to visit as compared to Night Safari.

I have passed my driving practical!!!! 12 points deducted for some minor mistakes.
Thank god that I mount kerb during my practice in the circuit before the test and not during the test itself!!!
Thank you to all my friends who wished me good luck for the test, your luck to me had been fully utilized ;p

Although it is not something remarkable as you can see teenager driving in other countries, I am glad that I have passed all the tests on my 1st attempt. In this way, it had saved me money and time ;p

My happiness = My brother's trouble
Haha!!! I will be an additional threat to my brother's car. Keke...

A newcomer in my house...

"Huang2 Ying1 Niao3" that my mum brought home. My mum saw it under the tree and was afraid the it would be bitten by cats, so she brought it home to take care of it.

At the moment, we are feeding it liquid food with a syringe as it cannot consume on its own.

We will be releasing it back to the nature once it is ready to fly :)

2 weeks of training had passed.
Although the topics covered were quite dry, I had enjoyed my time chit chatting with the people at my table :) They have been really nice and helpful.

I find that keeping a blog is rather useful.
It allows me to monitor the change in my thinking and keeps a record of the happy moments that I have had with my loved ones.

Even though some of the unpleasant memories may be included, I realise that they do not bother me anymore. I am glad that I feel this way because learning to let go is one of the most important skill to learn in life in order to be happy.

Dear Dear sent me an mms of the Angkor Wat that he just visited, I miss him so much.

Anyway, here is how i spent my weekend:
29 June 2008, Sunday
I spent my time at home reading for the first half of the day.

Driving lesson was better, It was my last lesson in the circuit and I did pretty okay in it. However, my concentration and alertness when driving on the road is still lacking.
I tend to "veer off course", a mistake that I have been making frequently but am unsure how to correct it. Wednesday is the last driving lesson, I hope I will be able to correct this mistake.

I went to Bugis with my mum after seeing Dear Dear to the airport.

I went to Sasa to pluck my eyebrows as Clarissa told me that Sasa is having a promotion now where they help you to do a make-over or pluck your eyebrows for free!

To help my I brought my mum familiarize with familiar with the route to the cornad hotel where she will be attending her boss's son's wedding dinner in a few weeks' time, I brought her to the hotel just to take a look at its location.

We went back to City Hall MRT station to meet my aunt after that. However, after having lunch with them, I left for my driving lesson and they continued to shop.

This is my worst Driving lesson ever... Striking poles here and there in the circuit. My instruction got really pissed off with me. I was feeling really unwell due to a bad cold and did not had enough sleep the night before. I could hardly concentrate.
I am starting to worry about my driving test...

Driving test is on next friday, yet I have not properly mastered lane changing. I wonder how it will go on that day...

Work
The 1st week of my job training had just passed, another 1 week to go.
My colleagues are all nice people. I know 1/4 of them before work started, haha!!!
3/4 of us are from NTU, so it is like a gathering for us. We sit in the class like the way we did in NTU. The only difference is that, besides lunch, we sit there the whole day. My butt will get bigger soon, gotta exercise!

We have our own assigned laptop, brand new ones! I still remember those days when my cousin told me that she had to carry very heavy laptop to work. So, i guess we are lucky ;p

I missed our netball gathering today due to menstral cramp... It had been such a long time since i had gotten terrible cramp like this... and it came at a very wrong timing. Haiz... I wonder how coach and her kids are doing now.

Hopefully, there will be another outing again!

Celebrated Father's Day at Ju Ju at Paradiz Centre. Steamboat Dinner.
The portion of each set meal is big enough for 2 to share. There were 7 of us and we had problem finishing the 5 sets that we had ordered. Each set costs 29.85+++, so it's came out to be about $35 per set.

I was impressed with a very helpful chinese waiter working in that restaurant. His service is really good, always ready to assist u or to answer your doubt.

Beef set. My father couldn't wait to start eating. Fish set. This place is recommended by my sis.
The veggies. My mum, she loves this kind of gathering. Got food and every family members are present.

Me, just got a new haircut on Monday. I took off my spectacles as they had become misty due to the steam from the hot soup.

Besides the meal, a $100 cash was given to my dad as Father's Day gift.

I went to meet Dear Dear at Royston's house after my driving.
Royston's mum babysits a girl named Le Xuan, and now she also babysits Le Xuan's brother, Le Tian, who is only 4mths old.

It's cookies baking day.
Here's a recipe from the book that Kev bought from the book fair at suntec. Getting ready the ingredients and all the tools that we need.

The 1st batch of cookies is out... Chocolate Chips Cookies!
I went to rest a while after that whereas Dear Dear continued to make the 2nd batch of cookies.

They look okay, but were too soft and spongy unlike normal cookies. I think we will have to revise the recipe, we must have gone wrong somewhere while making the cookies...

10th June 2008, Tuesday
We went to Serangoon Broadway to collect our academic dresses. When we were taking Bus no. 154, I became unsure about the stop to alight. So i went to ask the bus captain which is the stop that is opposite the Serangoon Fire Station. The bus captain told me that I took the wrong bus and asked us to alight so as to change to another bus.

I panicked and asked Dear Dear to alight the bus, as I thought I took the wrong bus. After alighting, we checked the information board and realised that bus no. 154 does go to the bus stop opp the serangoon fire station!! Anyway, we boarded another bus. Serangoon Broadway is actually located very near to Kallang Bahru.

Serangoon Broadway was quite far from the bus stop we alighted, even though it was within sight. Dashing across the road would be a shortcut but it is better not to try that. So we walked further down, crossed the bridge and walked down a path before crossing another road to our destination. Then i realised that 154 is the only bus we can take that stops right in front of shops beside Serangoon Broadway! What to do... i should have checked the bus route properly before we came out.

After the collection of the academic dresses, we walked to the Central of Kallang Bahru.

Walking pass the Kallang River... The hawker centre at the central was closed for washing. So, we went to Hans to have our lunch.

It was quite tiring as the sun was scorching outside, so we just slack there for a while even though we had finished our meal. I am glad that I have settled one more thing before my work begins.

For the past 2 days, Dear dear and I had been watching the anime, Vision of Escaflowne. It is a nice anime even though its ending is rather abrupt.

In the late afternoon, Jan suddenly called us and would like to come all the way to Bedok to have a meal with us. So we introduced him to Bedok 85, one of the most famous eating place.

The more famous Bah Chor Mee stall was not opened that day, so we bought the noodles from the stall next to it. We had also ordered Hokkein Fried Noodle, BBQ Sotong and my favourite Grilled Chicken Wings :)
Every outing with Jan = a lot of food = Very Full = Weight increase. HAHA!
Jan has become a photo whore recently. Hmm... I was almost influenced by him.
Anyway, take more pictures now before my working life begins may be a good idea too ;p

We went to Bugis to thank the goddess for her blessings.
Here is a famous fishball stall that we found last year. Every morning the queue is so long and it is never ending. Wanna try? It is at si4 ma3 lu4 hawker centre, $2.50 per bowl. Must be there before 10.30am wor!
Here's the noodle. It's handmade, tt's why taste better.
After visiting the temple, we bought the ingredients that we needed to cook our "Fish with Salsa", we went back to my house and start preparing the dish.

The salsa taste sour, a bit funny. I am not very used to its taste. Still, we finished everything.

Lesson learnt: If u wanna cook tasty food, please do not pick the recipe from a Dietary Recipe Book. Healthy food and tasty food can never meet eye to eye most of the time.

We met up with Uncle Philip and Bernard at Swissotel Merchant Court Market Cafe to have lunch buffet together.

This is one of the best food there i think: The durian! Does not look very nice, but taste really good :)

Although my 1st class honors is nothing compared to Zhang Fang Fang who topped NTU Accountancy and did really well for her ACCA, I hope that Mr. Chan will feel happy for me, too.

The chapter is coming to an end and we will be graduating officially on 22nd July 6pm.
Everyone will be playing on a leveled ground in the next chapter again, i will continue to strive towards my goal ("p)v

Gift from Dear Dear

Dear Dear bought a couple blades on Saturday (31st May 2008) :)

We went to Skateline shop at Peninsular Shopping Centre to get the blades, but my size was not available. Therefore, we needed to go to the branch at the Upper Paya Lebar Road at Tai Keng Gardens to get my pair of blades ("p)v

My mum bought me a pair of blades when I was in Primary 4 i think... it has been with me for 13years! Although I had changed some of its ball bearings, the blades is still working well.

We met at Riverside Indonesia Restaurant for dinner. Tonight is considered the best attendance day since don't how long ago. All invitees turned out except for our dear Lora who had to watch Narnia 2 Premier with her Christopher.

Dear Dear and I waiting for our seats to be ready...
As usual, others are late, except for Ziwei and Debra. The 4 of us sat there for about 15min or more before others arrived.

Most surprising update of the day: Min applied for a flat *wow*
Looks like Min is going to be the 1st Mrs in our click ;p

After the dinner, we found a place to hangout for some time, called Beers. One side of the table was engaged into casual chit chatting while the other side of the table was Yong Hao performing magic tricks using the poker cards that he just bought.

The side with the Poker cards ended up playing games, like Heart Attack, haha...
Lei wanted to play "Bridge", however most of us are not sure of how the game is played. So she was spending effort, raising her voice and explaining the game to the people who were interested in playing the game.

Met up with my primary school classmates for lunch at Sakae Sushi Marina Square.
Updates here and there, some are unexpected and surprising.

I guess none of us change radically. The days of playing five stones, zero point, soccer and marbles were long gone. Leaving behind only the memories and some photos that are still kept in my cupboard.

Although the strength of the group seems to be shrinking, I am glad that we are still meeting up.
Thanks to Qin Fen who arranged this gathering even though she has been so busy with her tuition centre.

Today is a memorable day which I think Jan will never forget ;p

The main itinerary is to eat.

We meet Jan at Outram MRT at the platform and took the NEL to Chinatown together.We had a hard time finding our way into the People's Park Centre as it was raining and the usual ramp was barricaded due to painting work.So we made our way around the building and we finally found a slope at the other end of the building.

This is the famous Dessert Shop on the 2nd Level of the People's Park Centre. Price is slightly steeper than those at the hawker centre, still it's affordable.

We ordered Tou Suan, Barley Gingko, Black Glutinous Rice, Walnut Cream and Mango Sago... These are only the appetizers...
After that, we went to the People's Park Hawker Centre for the famous Yong Tou Fu. In addition, Jan ordered $12 worth of Wu Xiang Guan Chang! OMG, we were really stuffing the food down our throat near the end of our meal.
We went to OG Men's Department to shop around and to enjoy the air condition before we left for Chinatown Point.

I didn't realise that Chinatown Point has slopes that link one level to the other. I always thought that it was only for the 1st level.
Went to Chinatown point and found the Digital Photo Shop that Dear Dear was talking about. Develop 4R digital photos at only $0.15 each! Criteria is that you have to develop more than 100 photos. This is definitely not a problem for us, i think.

Since the rain had stopped, we walked to City Hall, passing by the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Sounds familiar??? They offers scholarship to university students, to apply for it, you have to write a 3000-word essay in chinese if i am not wrong...

I was hogging Jan's PSP as he introduced a new game to me.

Dear Dear was trying to understand why I like to play that game so much.

After resting at Kopitiam, we continued our journey and reached Somerset.

This is the Handicap Lift of Centre Point. It is manually operated. You have to press on the black button all the way until you reach the level that you want to go. Luckily, there was only one level.When we were leaving Centre Point, we found out that actually there is a normal lift if we walked further down...

We walked to Heeren, thinking of going to Vil'age for our dinner. However, the Vil'age was no longer in business! Or has it moved?

Instead, we went to NYDC that is right outside Heeren to have our dinner

After the dinner, we walked to the Orchard MRT only to find out that there is no lift available yet as the place was renovating!

Dear Dear helped Jan up the stairs. You think this looks easy??? I can tell you this is not. I think Dear dear burnt quite a bit of the calories for the day through this. I guess he might be afraid that Jan's Wheelchair handles will give way, too! Each handle cost $90 leh.

Poor Jan, he was terribly scared when he saw the security bringing up this machine called the "Stairs Climber". He wanted to turn back and wheel all the way to Dhoby Ghaut MRT rather than trying this Stairs Climber.

I agree that it really does not look secure, but we encouraged Jan to give it a try since it was already there.

I am a dream... Go, Jan!
The process was a long and torturing one. All the three of them were perspiring. Jan was praying i think, while the other 2 were laughing and trying to focus at the same time.
Thanks to the security guard. Although he can't understand English well, he was very willing to help us.
Now you understand why is it so memorable for Jan ba ;p

We went to Jan's house to meet him so that his mum will not be too worried.

We walked to the Boon Lay MRT station from his house and took a train to Dhoby Ghaut.

Our lunch was settled at Fish & Co @ the Glass House.

Fish & Co changed the coaster... Trying to differentiate from Fish Manhattan which uses similar coasters as their previous coasters?
These are 2 drinks on the table, please do not open unless you wanna pay $2 plus per can.
After satisfying our stomach, we went to buy movie tickets at Cathay Cineplex.

We watched the show strongly recommended by Yixian... Made of Honor.

It was a great show! Thks for introducing the show :)

I laughed almost throughout the whole show.

After the show, they decided to eat again... The Famous Wanton Noodles. Quite expensive even though they give you many wantons. I don't like wantons, so no use giving me so many wantons!

I ate the Sliced Chicken Noodle while the 2 of them ate the Wanton Noodles. In addition, Jan ordered the Fried You Tiao and Vegetable.

My stomach felt bloated and it was going to burst anytime. In order to digest the food, we walked to Bugis and then to City Hall. Found a good place to rest at Raffles City. A new hangout place, there were a few people sleeping on the sofas.
Arts Festival is around the corner, this is one of the artefact i guess.

We continued our way to the 7-eleven opposite the MRT and grab a Big Gulp before we called it a day and headed home on our own.

Taiwan Trip Part 1/2

Got back from Taiwan on 12th May... The day when the earthquake took place at China SiChuan. Consequently, our trip to China Jiu Zhai Gou was cancelled... Pple always tell me Jiu Zhai Gou is very beautiful... Although it is a pity that I could not get to see its beauty, I am glad that I am safe and sound in Singapore. Hopefully, they will find the survivors soon...

Day 01 - 29th April 2008, Tuesday
On the MRT to Changi Airport T1
While waiting to board the plane, we did our last minute revision on Taiwan
Should have brought something onto the plane, the 4.5hrs journey felt so long...

Taipei Day 1
We reached Tao Yuan International Airport (Previously Chiang Kai-Shek Airport) at about 6.25pm...

We took "Free Go" that provide transport to the hotel doorstep. If you take other bus, e.g. "Guo Guang", they will only drop you at "Taipei Main Station" so you have to walk or take MRT to get to your hotel.
For Kilin Hotel, we had to transfer bus. They dropped those ppl staying at Ximending area 1st. It took about 1.5hr to get to our hotel since we were the last to alight. Personally, we felt that kilin hotel is not worth its price, although it was one of the most common hotel employed by the tour agencies. The facilities were normal and their service was not very good. Their receptionist were not very willing to answer our questions, they enjoy talking among themselves rather to bother about the customers.
Here are some pics of my parents and brother which took SQ and had reached Taipei in the afternoon...
They went to Lungshan Temple and shopped around the area near there, where my brother claimed that it was not suitable for the younger generation. He hardly see any youngster on the street that afternoon.

By the time Dear Dear and I reached the hotel, my dad was sleeping like a log, and my mum is too tired to come out and shop with us. Therefore, only the 3 of us went to Ximending.

On the way, we bought "Da4 Chang2 Bao1 Xiao3 Chang2". It is pork sausage stuffed inside a glutinous rice sausage.

I don't know why my brother like the smelly beancurd so much... It just smell like sewage...

I tried it and it indeed... taste like sewage, just that it is not that strong. I am not going to eat that again.

Ximending closes quite early at about 12am...

We saw this cute little fat doggie who loves to play the basketball arcade machine. It was standing there, getting ready for its owner to play the game with him. Too bad, its owner was not in a mood to play. He left the machine reluctantly when its owner walked away. Long long Ice Cream! Less than S$1!
The wind was so strong at night that it blew the ice cream onto my brother's T-shirt. wahaha!

Day 2 - 30th April 2008, Wednesday

Taipei Day 2
Having breakfast at a small noodle shop. I don't like their noodles, it is tasteless...
My brother and father always like to do the same thing at the same time... My brother went to buy tea for us because the eating shops in Taiwan usually don't sell drinks. Before my brother is back, my dad went out of the shop too. 15minutes later, both of them came back with 2 cups of tea... Like father like son...

We stopped by a fruit stall near the hotel.
Dear Dear, me and my brother were busy eating mango, my dad washing his hands using the waterhose provided by the shop and my mum choosing her tomatoes...
We went back to the hotel to get ourselves ready for the day's outing...
Magnetic bracelets from my mum to my dad and brother... It was supposed to improve your health. You believe? I don't really believe it. My brother wanted it coz he thought that the bracelet looked nice, that's all... waste my mum's money... think i can get bracelet that look like this much cheaper at other places! But my mum was happy to spend money because we are on tour! Haha...

Free shuttle bus to Taipei 101. But we decided to walk there since it was not too far away from the MRT Station...
We had reached Taipei 101, where all the branded stores are located at...
Going up to the top of Taipei 101 is definitely not cheap, it was about S$19 per head. Since we came all the way from Singapore, my brother thought we should go up and take a look, so he bought the tickets for the whole family :)
Here's how Taipei city looks like from the top of Taipei 101.
Each of us was given a device which looks like a cordless phone. This device will be our "tour guide" which will tell us more about Taipei City.
We went up to the outdoor observatory, but there was nothing much to see and it started raining.
So we went into the shelter to avoid the rain. Over here, we were able to see some snapshots of the construction of the Taipei 101 through a short film.
After that, we went to see the Wind Damper, which act as a stablizer for the Taipei 101.

Dear Dear and me sitting at the Priority seats... trying to act old so we don't feel bad occupying the seats. We left Taipei 101 for Houshanpi where Wufenpu commercial zone is located.
We had our lunch at a shop name "Meng4 Huan4" or something like that... The food there was good. However, my brother loves the seafood soup that my mum ordered.
After the meal, we went to shop at Wufenpu. However, as my dad was feeling tired and he forgot to bring his medicine along, he went back the hotel with my mum and Dear Dear first. Whereas my brother and I stayed there to shop for a while more.

We meet up again at Taipei Main Station platform and went to Danshui together.
My dad and mum who deserve to occupy the priority seats...Danshui is a relaxing place with night markets operating along the coast.
This is Danshui Lao3 Jie1. I prefer here to the other side of Danshui which is similar to Shilin.

This is Bing1 Tang2 Hu2 Lu2. It is cherry coated with melted sugar, so it is very sweet..

This is the Shilin Food Centre, it looks at the Singapore Hawker Centre but there are designated tables and chairs for each stall. Our 1st stall at Shilin Food Centre: Kuan1 Cai2 Ban3 (The Coffin Slabs)
2nd Stall: Mian2 Mian2 Bing1

3rd stall: Hao2 Jian1 (Don't be misled by the stall sign that reads wok-fried squids)
4th Stall: Qing1 Wa1 Xia4 Dan4 (It is like bubble tea, but i think we bought the winter melon tea) Getting ready to go to Room 18, a club near the Taipei Convention Halls and Taipei 101.

I just went there to take a look at their clubbing scene. I am not into clubbing nowadays, so Dear Dear and I went in for a while and left for a cafe, leaving my brother alone in the club. The girls there are prettier than Singapore girls on average. Most of them are tall, e.g. 1.7m is quite common, slim and have good complexion. Their guys are okay, taller than Singapore guys on the average. And one thing, you won't see army guys in the club. Maybe they all need to stay in camp...

Day 3 - 01st May 2008, Thursday (Labor Day)

Taipei Day 3

Since my parents did not get to walk around Ximending the last few days, Dear Dear and I brought them there to take a look and to have breakfast at the same time.

McDonald's burger that is not available in Singapore... pork burger.
This is Hong2 Lou2 (Red House) at Ximending. I still haven't find out what is this building. Since it looks quite nice, my parents wanted to take photo with this building as the backdrop.

It was time to leave Taipei for Taichung... My parents would love to stay a few more days at Taipei, however due to time restriction, that's all for taipei at the moment. Hopefully, there will be a chance to bring them to taipei again....

Eating on the bus. Dear Dear is eating the pork jerky i bought from Shilin last night, haha... It is chewy and delicious, very similar to our Bagua (Chinese BBQ pork). My brother eating Da4 Bin3 Bao1 Xiao3 Bin4 which was also bought from Shilin last night...

Taichung Day 1

When we reached Taichung bus terminal, we took a cab to our hotel. There was this taxi driver who said that he knew where our hotel is and ask us to board his cab. As there were 5 of us, we splitted into 3:2 and took 2 different cabs. This 2 cabs were from this group of taxi drivers eating "Bing1 Lang2", be wary of them....

Perhaps, he felt that the distance from the bus terminal to the hotel was too short and he could only earn NT$100, he tried to charge us more by requesting to charge per trip instead of following the meter when my parents and brother were on his cab as he claimed that it would take 40min to reach the hotel. The brother thought that he might be up to something as I had told him beforehand that the hotel is about 10min walk away from the bus terminal only. So he asked the taxi driver to pull over at the road side and he came over to the cab that Dear Dear and me were taking to ask our cab driver to lead the way instead.

Since our cab driver already said that he did't know where is "Guang Fu Road", we looked at the map and helped him locate the place. The place was actually just around the corner! I think the 1st driver was just trying to con our money. Anyway I am glad that we reached Good Ground Hotel, Ming3 Shuai4, safe and sound. We left our baggages in the hotel room and went out for lunch.

Here's a sports stadium that we passed by while we were on our way "hunting" for food.

We had steamboat at this shop. The serving per person is quite large, so i advise 2 girls can order 1 set and share. We couldn't finish all our food as we didn't expect the portion to be so big since it was relatively cheap.

At night, we went to the Yi1 Zhong1 Yi1 Jie1 Night Market.

Here is the yi zhong super big Chicken Chop, you can get shilin's and ximen's at Singapore, but not yi zhong's ;p
I don't understand why taiwanese like Ru3 Wei4, eating it once in a while is still okay but not everyday. I got sick of the taste.
Since we were in Taiwan, Dear Dear and my brother tried bing1 lang2. It is like chewing gum, something that we always hear but never get to try, so it's time for them to try... I chicken out after looking at their face when they were chewing the bing lang

Dear Dear's shirt was stained by the bing lang so he went back to the hotel to change his t-shirt. The stain stays there forever, you can't get rid of it... So imagine it staining your teeth or your internal organs... They never regret trying it, but this is something that they will likely not put them into their mouth again....
My parents were too tired to follow us to the famous goose meat stall. Anyway, it was nothing fantastic, the goose meat tastes like duck meat but is slightly more chewy.

After eating the goose meat, we combed the area around our hotel to look for other night markets. We found one at Gong1 Yuan2 Road. There is this stall at Gong Yuan Road that sells really cheap boots! Price range from NT$190-390 (Which is about S$9-19). If you wanna get yourself a pair of boots, you have got to take a look at that stall.

The other night market situated at the road parallel to Gong Yuan Road sells mainly food.

We bought some Tian2 Bu4 La4 there.

Saw this large teapot which we thought that it looked interesting... Look at Dear Dear's expression! So convincing, keke...

DAY 04 - 02nd May 2008, Friday

Taichung Day 2

Good Ground Hotel only provides 2 different "menu" for breakfast. It is either Chinese or Western Breakfast, content is fixed, like it or not. However, both suited my taste, so i was fine with it. In fact, i think that their breakfast was quite nice.

Off we go to the The Aboriginal Theme Park, Jiu3 Zhu2 Wen2 Hua4 Chun1.

We bought the bus tickets from Ren You Bus Services, the normal tickets to the Aboriginal Theme Park was sold out. Dear Dear and I managed to get the primary/secondary student tickets at NT$550 by chance(we didn't realise that in the beginning because we showed them our university card) from this counter. The rest of them need to buy tickets at a booth located 100m away from the main entrance to the Theme Park. At the ticketing booth, my brother tried using his SIA pass and managed to get the university student ticket at NT$600. I think normal ticket costs about NT$700. So do bring any pass that you have and try to look like a student when purchasing the tickets.

My brother wanted to try the UFO (Vertical Fall) but it was under daily maintenance, so we thought that we can give it a try later. However, we never get the chance to as it was raining cats and dogs at the later part of our journey...

Since this Theme Park is named Jiu3 Zhu2, there are nine villages built in this theme park.

People were shorter in the olden days... The ceiling of this hut is so low.

No more pictures of the Theme Park as it rained so heavily that we had to rush our way down to search for shelter. We were all drenched. I was shivering in cold all the way till we got back to our hotel.

After changing to our dry clothes, we went out to the 2 night markets at gong yong road.

There are a few CDs stall at the Zhong Hua Night Market which my mum would love to visit.

DAY 05 (Part 1/2) - 03rd May 2008, Saturday

Taichung Day 3
Dear Dear and I having our Western Breakfast. Their 2 style of breakfast just kept on rotating, so you may get bored of their breakfast if you stay there for too many days.

Since we woke up early, we decided to walk to the bus terminal to buy our tickets to Kaohsiung. On our way there, we passed by a few pets shop and we saw a bird which looked like my "Amigo" in my house! My friends who have seen "Amigo" would definitely agree with us :)

Checking the prices of taiyang bin, the famous local foodstuff @ Taichung. The receptionist told us that we should have gone to the "Ah Ming Shi Tai Yang Tang" Shop to buy the taiyang bin as that shop was the creator of the biscuits. All the other brands learned the recipe from this shop owner!

This is the Taichung Railway station, the major bus services providers are located around here too!

My parents and brother who were leaving for Taoyuan International Airport.

They are enjoying their meal at the airport without Dear Dear and I.

Bring your parents overseas while they are still healthy and are able to travel. People always find excuses not to do something, and usually take their love ones for granted. Sometimes, I am guilty of that too. I hope that I am still in time to make it up to them.

DAY 05 (Part 2/2) - 03th May 2008, Saturday

Kaohsiung Day 1

Kev and I now set off for Kaohsiung. From now on, the trip left the 2 of us... Actually more people more fun and can help one another take pictures, but there are also some advantages traveling with fewer number of people. We can decide where to go and what activities to do much faster.

Gear Hotel is the best hotel that we had stayed throughout the Taiwan Trip. Besides located slightly further from the Main Station, its services and facilities are the best! Nice bed, LCD TV, breakfast buffet, nice lobby, a room for depositing ur baggages on the last day of your stay.There a food street just around the corner of Gear Hotel...Many online forum will say that you should go to LiuHo Night MArket, but i think that LiuHo is a bit small...

They are selling piglet! So cute... looks like a puppy right?

DAY 06 - 04th May 2008, Sunday

Kaohsiung Day 2

Breakfast at Gear Hotel, the only hotel that provides buffet breakfast throughout our Taiwan Trip.

We had wondered what is this place about since the day before when we walked passed it the day before... So we went to take a look and it turned out to be a place selling... dried food, not very suitable for us i guess...
Walking to the Main Station... looks nice but got a lot of mosquitoes, perhaps it's because summer has arrived.Kevin donating the receipts. At taiwan, donating your receipts and the less fortunate and elderly will get to benefit!

Their MRT looks like our NEL because it is relatively new at Kaohsiung...

I like their ticket machine, it has a more friendly user interface as compared to Taipei's and Singapore's. You just need to touch the destination and the number of tickets you need, insert the amount required and out come the boarding chip. In Taiwan, their boarding chip looks like the chip used in Casino :)

There, we took a ride from Kaohsiung Main Station to the SanDuo Shopping District. Similar to Japan, they have cabin for the ladies at night but i think they forgot to mention that it is for the ladies in their English translation...

Here is their Bai Yuan Da Da Bai Huo (Mega Shopping Mall), 12 levels excluding Basement!

McDonald's @ Taiwan gives you Dilmah tea and not Lipton tea! And they give 2 packets of tea bag for each cup of tea... Their tea really tastes better and it is cheaper too...

What is 12 levels? SOGO over there has 15 levels!!! "Yi shopping centre hai bi yi shopping centre gao"...

Went back to the hotel after that coz my camera batterey went flat...

In the evening we came out of the hotel. 1st thing 1st is to satisfy our stomach... Here's quite a small bowl of rice but it cost less than S$1.50 only so can't ask for more...
Temples are everywhere in Taiwan...Here is JianGuo Bridge along the Love River.Listen to the Music @ Kaohsiung Music Centre... I think we were there at the right time as it was one of their music festival.

Taking the Love Boat... It's cheap, so just give it a try :)

Here's the Kaohsiung Museum of History. By the time we reached there, it was half an hour before they were closing for the day. So we could only take a look at the exhibits on the 1st level.

Singapore has Merlion. Taipei has.... "MerDragon"??? Haha... Looks similar to our Merlion right?

At the Cinema Library next to Love River... a nice place to be creative, be crappy.

Bought some drinks and food back to hotel for supper... Their pancakes have much more flavours as compared to those sold in Singapore.I like this drink!!! Why is it not sold in Singapore??? It does not taste alcoholic at all, maybe it is not... haha, i can't remember. Many people in Taiwan wear masks, so in Taiwan, we do what the Taiwaneses do :p

DAY 07 - 05th May 2008, Monday

Kaohsiung Day 3

We went to Zuoying Station and took a bus to Lian Ci Tan (Lotus Pond).

Only to find out that the pond has now become a large pile of mud...

They have been cleaning the pond... for almost half a year, when will the pond reappear again???

We went to the famous Dragon and Tiger Pagodas. For some reason, we were supposed to enter by the Dragon Pagoda and exit from the Tiger Pagoda...

This is the newly opened temple, we managed to catch a glimpse of its opening ceremony.
Other Temples that we had visited, they looks more grand if you get to see the actual buidlings...

Some disappointments... Closed on Monday - Chun Qiu Ge and Confucius Temple

After that, we went back to the hotel before we made our way to Cheng Ching Hu. By the time we reached there, it was closed for the day! Wat a wasted trip... But we found a nice bakery shop which is about 10min walk away from Cheng Ching Hu. Its Po Luo Bao is very nice!What a tiring and disappointing day... but still life goes on, we went to makan at San Duo Shang Quan Station.

And over there, we realised that the night market that we had been looking for is just a stop away from San Duo station! So there we go and set off for Central Park Station and look for our XinJueJiang Night Market. Not a bad place, consider the best among all the night markets that we had visited in Kaohsiung.

Back at Kaohsiung Main Station, we had some supper before we went back to our hotel.

DAY 08 - 06th May 2008, Tuesday

Kaohsiung Day 4

We took Kaohsiung Bus to Fo Guang Shan. A place that looks really grand and peaceful.

We wish we wish we wish....

Our free lunch. Looks not bad right? Vegetarian meal but taste quite nice wor~

Last photo before leaving and before my camera battery run flat.We took a cab from our hotel to the Fisherman's Wharf in the evening, a very nice place for relaxation...

We had our dinner at Xiang Yang Ju Zi. The food is cheap and nice! And their service is good too :) We took a boat to Cijin, a place where the waitress told us it is for cheap seafood. Anyway, we just go there and take a look.
Scooters are everywhere... even on their boat... haha! It may be worthwhile to take a look but must go there earlier.

After we came back from Cijin, we had Dessert at Da Wan Gong. There's a cute fortune telling toy on the table so we played around with it. The worst luck that you can have is "so-so", no such thing as "bad". Haha!

DAY 09 - 07th May 2008, Wednesday

Kaohsiung Day 5

Our last breakfast at Gear Hotel, Yuan Qi Zao Can!We went to Cheng Ching Hu early in the morning at Kaohsiung before we left for Taichung.

As shown in the ticket, the only more special thing ay Cheng Ching Hu is the bridge...

This is the Shui Zhu Guan... but there are not many fishes in there... nothing much to see.Here's the place where you get free fruit tea... It tasted nice, sweet but light...

Personally, i think you may consider skipping this place if you are in Kaohsiung... Nothing much to see, feels like Bedok Reservoir in Singapore as you are able to see apartments at the other end of the lake...

This place is right outside of Cheng Ching Hu, where I think is a good place for having meal and hanging out.

Taichung (Returned Trip) Day1

Moving on, we took Guo Guang Bus to Taichung.

We are back at Good Ground Hotel! Taichung... a relaxed place where there are not many places of interest within itself but more of shopping.

The hotel is small, but at least they are really thoughtful... At least, they provide internet access and a computer for their occupants :)

Back to "Yi Zhong Yi Jie"... Eat eat eat... shop shop shop...

We had been too exhausted after running around in Kaohsiung, so we planned a very relaxed schedule for our Taichung stay.

DAY 10 - 08th May 2008, Thursday

Taichung (Returned Trip) Day 2

Breakfast at Subway... All fast food restaurants at Taiwan have at least 2 levels... for those who have mobility problem will have a hard time over there...

We wanted to catch a movie here at Di Yi Guang Chang. After entering the building, we decided that it would be better that we catch the movie at Taipei instead. It felt like the building had been abandoned for some time. Only 1-2 shops are occupied out of every 10 shops... I think it will be really scary if you try going in at night, feels eerie...
Walked around the nearby area like "yi zhong yi jie" and managed to buy some books from the newly opened book store. Along the way back, I bought a pair of shoes, too ;p
Here's Good Ground Hotel (doesn't look like hotel from the exterior right? haha! but the service there is really good.)
After resting for some time, we went to the bus terminal and took a bus to "FengJia" Night Market. I think it is the biggest night market in Taiwan that we had been to so far.
We had dessert @ "Xian Yu Xian" which seems to be quite famous in Taiwan.

They pass you a pager when you make an order and you will have to collect your food when they give you a beep and shout out your number. Interesting...Looks delicious??? I think the one at Kaohsiung taste much better...

DAY 11 - 09th May 2008, Friday

Our last breakfast @ Good Ground Hotel. Simple but nice :)

Our ride from Taichung back to Taipei is so CHEAP!!! We managed to be there at the right time and the tickets were selling at NT$100 only!!! Which is less than S$5!

Taipei (Returned Trip) Day 1

We are back at Taipei again :) The weather here is cooler than Taichung and Kaohsiung wor... Relaxed day at Taipei...
Makan at Ximending 1st before we set off for Yang Ming Shan. We had our breakfast at Pasta Bar. I forgot what we had ordered but it taste good, the sweetness of the cranberry juice is just right too.

Took bus no. Red5 at JianTan Station to Yang Ming Shan. The place is very big.... You can try walking by yourselves... you will take the a day or 2...
We tried walking... and looking for the Visitor Centre take a very long time, it is located about 1km away from the entrance of Yang Ming Shan...

We gave up, we decided to take the internal bus no. 108 as it was getting late...

As it was too late, we did not alight the bus, we just "tour" Yang Ming Shan on the bus. Managed to take a few pictures of the scenary while we were on the bus... The bus ride was terrible even though kev loves it... I felt like we were filming Initial D...
The bus driver knows the route so well, every turn is so fast and furious. I felt like vomiting after the bus ride... I very weak hor...
Went to Shilin Night Market to eat 1) chou tou fu (Smelly Bean Curd), 2) Guan Cai Ban (Coffin Slab), 3) Peanuts Mian Mian Bing, 4) Niu She Bing (Taste like Tai yang Bing)

DAY 12 - 10th May 2008, Saturday

Taipei (Returned Trip) Day 2

We bought the one-day MRT card for NT$200 each, NT$50 is refundable. So we went to many places today to make the card a worthy one...
First stop is the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall.

Then 2nd stop is "Gu Gong". We went to Shilin to take a bus to "Gu Gong". But we had our breakfast 1st before going to "Gu Gong"...

Off to "Gu Gong" after the meal, the National Palace Museum where you see the artifacts left behind from different dynasties. The carvings on those artifacts were very detailed, you wonder how long they took to create those artifacts. The calligraphy were really neat and the force exert when writing each word was just right everytime it looks like characters printed using the computer!
Too bad that no photography is allowed in the museum...

Our 3rd stop: Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. It is now a library cum Arts Gallery Hall....

There are even students pratising dance right in front of the door step of the Memorial Hall... Maybe Mr Sun Yat-sen like to watch pple dance...

4th Stop: Met up with Julia and Kuang Yao at HouShanPi. We had our lunch at Hu Xu Zhang Ru Rou Fen before we go to WuFenPu Commercial Zone.

After the meal, we went to Wufenpu and shopped around... Guess who we met? It's Meng San and her boyfriend, Terence... again. Throughout the 4days we were back at Taipei, we met them by chance for the 1st 3 days. What a coincident :) After shopping, it's time to fill our stomach again... Here's RaoHe Night Market.The Bah Kut Teh is very nice!!! But my stomach was not feeling well, so i couldn't eat...
Another "Mian Mian Bing"... hee...5th Stop: Julia and Kuang Yao went back after dinner, whereas Kev and I went to Danshui to buy "Yu Shu" for my sis, which is the famous foodstuff from Danshui.

DAY 13 - 11th May 2008, Sunday

Taipei (Returned Trip) Day 3

Our breakfast from LiLai Hotel... Looks pathetic but Tastes ok... i like that packet drink, Lipton milk tea. If you are staying in that hotel, kindly note that you have to order breakfast the night before. If not, no breakfast for you, too bad. And breakfast will be sent to doorstep between 8am-9am. If you are not in, it will be hung on the door knob.

Stop over at Zhong Lie Ci, the memorial hall which was built to remember those who sacrifice, may it be for war, for SARS, etc. A model of the "Zhong Lie Ci"Everyone takes picture with them, coz they can't move...
We went to Jioufen, an old town at one of the hilltop in Taiwan. They said that there used to be only 9 families living on that hill and they were closely knitted. Therefore, everytime they went down the hill to buy things, they will buy nine sets. There, the name of this place derived from this story. 1st time eating the meat of wild pigs... less fats We set off to YeLiu which is about 50 min away from JiouFen.
I like YeLiu, cooling breeze, beautiful waves and rock formations.

My Favourite picture. It was an Indian lady who helped us to take this picture after we had helped her. Didn't expect that she can take photos so well ;pThis is their most significant Rock at YeLiu, name "Nv Huang Tou" which is the Empress Head.
The "neck" of this head is getting thinner by about 0.2cm every year, so they have estimated that this head will be gone in about 14 years...

They are VERY protective of this head. The security will yell at you if you put your bag, climb or do anything that endanger this head's life... It's true, you can try if you don't believe me.

We ended our half day tour at Shilin. So we went to makan at Shilin Night Market Food Centre 1st. If you are at Shilin, then u must always eat there... i dunno why too.
Ru Rou Fan and Bah Kut Teh. The Bah Kut Teh at RaoHe is so much nicer...
Tried the "Tian Fu Luo", always thought that it means Tempura but we were wrong... I am not sure what it is even after i ate it. It is fried...fish with no meat in it??? can't really tell.

Kev loves the "Mian Mian Bing" from Taiwan...

Met up with Julia and Yedi at Ximending as she wanted to pass her mother's mother's day present to me. Kev and I ate the famous "Ah-chong Mee Sua" finally after so many days in Taipei, haha! We find the noodle taste all right only though...

Kev's cousin and uncle were in Taipei too! We met up and went to the HuaXi Night market which was closing by the time we reached there. So we ended up in McDonald's at Ximending chit chatting.
Their camera was spoilt when they went to Sun Moon Lake that afternoon... Luckily it was already the last few days of their tour...

DAY 14 - 12th May 2008, Monday

Taipei (Returned Trip) Day 4

Went to Lungshan Temple, a famous temple amongst the locals. There are alot more ppl in the temple as compared to the Guanying Temple at Bugis.
Having a light meal before we went back to the hotel to get our baggages.
The seats in this cafe are swings hanging from the wall, quite special right?

One funny thing is that its kitchen is located somewhere else, so you will see your food being delivered from outside the cafe.

Their medium size milk tea is quite large. One bad thing is that they require us to spend minimum of NT$xxx (i forgot how much le, haha!)

My mum, sis, Dear Dear & I went to meet aunt for breakfast at Eunos. After the breakfast, Dear Dear & I went to Bedok to get his specs.

The spec was not really well done, the finishing at the sides of the lens were rough, but in the end we didn't go back and request for additional conditioning of the specs...

Dear Dear & I went to shop at BHG Bugis then we moved on to the temple to pray and of course go into OG Albert to take a look since it is so near..

Then we went to Dhoby Ghaut to shop, went into Cathay & PS... There's a very Chinese Mega Book store in Cathay, u can go and take a look if u wanna find China movies or books.

Lastly we went to City Hall, wanting to get Shaun's present, but the thing we wanna buy is way out of our budget :( Wanted to get something tt he like...

In the end, we went back home empty handed after shopping for the whole day.

Happy Bday, Dear Dear!!!!!

Poor Dear Dear has to work at his internship on his bday.
However, he is so lucky to have really thoughtful friends like Royston, Yihe & Marie who came all the way to his house with cake & present! That was so sweet of them... Furthermore, Yihe was sick tt day even though he still crapped a lot.

Results came out on Dear Dear’s bday again... Why must it always be on this date??? Hmm...

Btw, here's the present from our Uni classmates & me! He wanted to train weights, so he got his request fulfilled :)
The weights including the bar is 10Kg per set and there's 2 set of it.
There's a wheel exercise where u have to kneel down & wheel urself forward (Kev wheel himself forward standing up at 1st!! haha... But he did it! though it was not the right way...)
And lastly a Charlie Chaplin series tt he chose himself too...

Went for lunch with Xiling, then accompany her to choose her specs frame. She was rather fussy, like any typical girl who loves to shop... keke...
After lunch, I went to meet Kristine to get the G2000 VIP card from her. Finally found someone with the card, her offer to lend me the card really came at a great timing ;p

After work, met up with Dear Dear at Raffles City G2000 to buy the suit. We met Ben & friends in the shop. So, we lend him the VIP card so that he can also get additional 15% discount of the discounted price, then he paid using his OCBC credit card so that both himself & us can get the $30 voucher. Great combination!

Dear bought a pair of sunglass for me from River Island...

I saw a top tt i like but it cost $90, but i didn't but it as i decided tt it is not worth the price! Halfway shopping, we gotta go & meet his Minor E friends to discuss about project... After the discussion, we went xin wang HK café for dinner... Still think Shi Nai HK Cafe is better :)

Merry Xmaz!

My parents & Meiling’s mother went on cruise today. I went to Dear Dear's house, all meals at his house all involves Turkey, except for the bai guo yi mi shui that ah ma cooked :)

We had Dinner at Geylang Xin Ma with his family, Uncle Philip, Bernard, Serene, Alvin & Dominic. Serene & Family gave me a xmaz gift -A cup with lid & a spoon- Every year they gimme present, feel bad not preparing anything for them... Gotta get something for them next year...

Helped my mum to prepare for the Xmaz Eve Feast tonight.
So many ppl came for the Dinner wor... but Daddy went to drive cab... Dear Dear, Kun Xiong, Jane & her nephew came.

The turkey is so huge, we could not finish it!!
Jane bought gifts for my sis, mum & me! Kun Xiong bought a gift for my mum, too!

This is the 2nd year Jane gave xmaz present to us... i owe her one next year, if not i feel bad...

My mum gave 1/6 of the turkey to Dear Dear, then his father brought home another 5/6. Juz nice, one turkey, haha!

The Panasonic 37” TV came, but cannot install yet. The TV was delivered by Best but we need to wait for the staff from Panasonic to mount the TV onto the wall. Leaving it at the living is so "tat lor"... Even worse, the Best delivery staff forgot to bring the card reader & we need to go down to Dhoby Ghaut Best personally on that very day to make payment.

Since we are there might as well just shopped ard but my sis went off as she need to attend Lishan’s house warming. My mum & I bought some kitchen ware & hair accessories from Daiso. It is quite easy for Daiso to train cashier coz everything is selling at $2! No need for barcode etc.. so troublesome, count number of items and times 2, that's it!
I bought a top from La Senza and a dress from This Fashion. Hmm... Long time nv buy clothes le... haha!

My Daddy is so cute, he was waiting for us to come home & have tea with him, hehe.. tot that he would have went to rest le.

Bought some xmaz gifts for some of my colleagues & ex-colleagues during lunch time. Very last minute though, haha...

Met Kristine, Doreen & the new girl for lunch at Golden Shoe again.

After work, Dear Dear & I went to City Hall to shop a while first before going to Bras Basah to meet Royston. Yihe & Marie came and meet us @ the Food Centre in Bugis Village.
Marie is from St Hildas and she knows quite a few of my poly friends as they are secondary school mates. I feel that Marie & I took quite similar path :)

After that we walked around for a while before we settled down at the famous dessert shop along the alley opp Bugis Junction. Went there once during one of the pyritez FOC activities if i did not rmbr wrongly.

After the lunch, we went to coffee bean to order xmaz party set. She was buying them for the office.

Had dinner at Pastamania at Tanjong Pagar with Dear Dear. We were the only customers in the restaurant. For your information, no student price after 6pm :(

Lunched with Dear Dear after his GIC interview.
Watched warlords with Stephanie, Yitian, Wanyu, Paul, Hanwen, Gary & Dear Dear. Before the movie, we saw Irene who came to watch Alvin & the Chipmunks with her friends.

In the threatre, we or rather Gary met a Weird China guy who sat at one of our seats as he was not sure how to read the movie ticket... Anyway, the blur blur Gary showed him the wrong Directions too! hahaha!!! He was supposed to sit at the last seat of Row K which was the row which we were supposed to sit also. However, Gary didn't know that row was K and he brought him up a few rows before realising it.

The show was quite nice, although some parts are rather stupid... "Da ge shi dui de". Haha, Jin Chen Wu's tag line for the show ;p

Went to Eunos with mama & aunt in the morning to have breakfast.
In the afternoon, I went to Orchard to meet Dear Dear & Bernard. Bernard bought a spiderman soft toy at Forum Toys ‘R’ Us for Dominic.

Went to City Hall with Xian then Mind’s Cafe.
Min & Ronald were the 1st couple to arrive after us. Then Geline & Jim, Chris & Russell, Lora & Christopher, Lei & Alex. Lastly, Huixian & Samantha (Zao Shua) came tgt, & Edmund came quite late when the outing is about to end. Yonghao who went to the concert was not able to make it in time. I think he tried to rush over but the gathering just ended.

Saw a pair of shoes that I like but don’t have my size le, so sad… Wanted to buy Dear Dear’s present but the free weights were out of stock, so we only got the Roller

After that we went to meet my Minor in Entrepreneurship classmates & Miko at Fish & Co. Glasshouse for a gathering.
Marc told us about his whale sperm story, keke... yummy huh? Too bad Dear Dear & I were too tired, so we didn't join them for a drink after the dinner.

On Friday, we went to Somerset to get Dear Dear’s present at Wisma Isetan. Yeah! The only bad thing was that Dear Dear carried that and walked all the way to Cineleisure as we wanted to eat Long John Silver. The weights were so heavy as we bought 2 sets (20Kg altogether). When we reached there, Long John Silver was closed! Argh...

Walked from Dear Dear's house all the way to East Coast to meet Hanwen & Joel for Canoeing. Gary overslept... Ming Chew came too coz he was supposed to get his comics from Dear Dear. Anyway, Dear Dear forgot to bring so he just went along with our Canoe Expedition... In the end, there was no where to rent the canoe at East Coast. The shop was closed and if we wanted, we would have to walk really far before we would get to the rental shop.

We ended up at Gary's house playing Mahjong, Guo Yi joined us too.

Guo Yi & Ming Chew paired up, Dear Dear & me paired up, Hanwen & Joel paired up & Gary went solo. End of the game... Winners are Guo Yi & Ming Chew and Runner-up is Dear Dear & me!

After the Mj session, we went to Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre to have lunch before we all went home separately.

Went for EY & KPMG’s interview where all NTU students gather ;p

In between the interviews:
- Had lunch with Dear Dear and Xavier at a Ninja Restaurant which sell claypot rice & curry noodle. Reasonable price but you will smell like one of their dishes after the meal, haha!
- Accompany Dear Dear to PWC- Met Wenqi to take mf’s bday card- My shoes were spoilt, so bought one more pair of shoes again… hahaha!

It had been raining the whole day so badly, I feel so feverish...
Were supposed to go to a seminar with Weiliang, Feng Yi, Desmond etc, but was not feeling well so we didn't go even though we still saw them at the MRT. Hanwen was not feeling well too, so he ended up not going, too. Rainy days make ppl feel sick i guess...

The APF Finance Team held a welcome lunch for me at a Jap Restaurant in the Hong Leong Building at B1. Nice food, but not cheap... Really appreciate their warm welcome as I will only be there for about a month

After work, I bought 2 pairs of shoes coz i saw a pair of brown heels which met all the criteria which I had been looking for.

It's Subject Registration Day. There's error in Dear Dear's records in the school resulting in problems registering subjects. We were really anxious but thankfully, the registration this time round is much more relaxed. After more than an hour later when Dear Dear's problem had been solved, there were still vacancies remaining. Even though we did not manage to get one of our index as planned, we've gotten the other index of the same time slot :)

1st Day of work at Lasalle investment.
Nothing much to do, coz i came in half of the day. The only things settled were that my workstation & work email had been assigned to me.

Caitlan referred me to Evelyn and Evelyn requested Jesslyn to show me around the office. The office was new coz they just expanded to this new unit just opposite their existing office.
Great pantry, full of drinks, fruits, candies, chocolates & cookies! I like that, haha! By the way, my seat is quite near to the pantry ;p

Xiling came to check if everything was fine for me & Evelyn was trying her best to make me feel comfortable there too. That's all I did for tt half day, haha!

Kev & I went to meet Ekasith who came back to Singapore for a short period of time.

We went to Outram Park Hawker Centre and have breakfast before going to Chinatown Point to have a cup of coffee.

After that they rushed home with me to get the Karaoke VCDs for Simei's Bday, then we rushed to Kev's house coz he needed to change into his VJ attire for Simei's Bday Theme... Rushing here and there was making me feeling slightly exhausted, haha, think i am really getting old.

After which Ekasith went to meet his friends and Kev & I went to Simei's Bday.

AA304 quiz was definitely a disaster, I got only 2 correct out of the 10 MCQs!!! Hahaha... The highest i heard was 6, and the avg score is around 3 or 4. I am below avg, there are a few 1 and 0. Hope they will moderate...

Anyway, it's over! So let's go Kbox!! It's Kbox 5th anniversary, so muz go for their last day promotion ;p We went to clementi KBox to relieve our stress... Lalalalalalalalalala!!!!

We started off with 6 people, Paul, hanwen, irene, simei, dear dear and me. Then Jan and Gary joined us later.

Went to Sizzler Toa Payoh Central with my parents, sister and Dear dear to eat "Salad Bar". It is a salad buffet. I feel that it's over-priced... but my sis said wanna go so juz try lor.

Their salad was not bad but the std of their main course is really much lower than my expectation...

After that, we shopped around at Toa Payoh before Dear dear and I went back to Kembangan.

Tomorrow is huixian's bday so we met up at Bedok interchange to go Bedok 85 in the evening. Yixian was doing project with Meihua at Bedok Mac, so Meihua took the same bus with us but she alighted at different bus stop.
Only huimin & ronald, yixian and I turned up, hx's brothers came, too. Lei, u missed ur "Wei Jun Jie", hahaha!!!

After the dinner, Min and Ronald went to watch movie, hx's brothers went home, yixian & I tgt with hx went to Cineleisure. We let hx chose her own present. No surprises, but noe for so long liao, no need paiseh lah :)

Yixian left home after that, hx and i went to meet shi shi (shi yin's younger sis) to go to KTV 97 at Orchard Plaza or Tower (i forget liao, haha)

It's Carvivor Rally! This is my 1st time joining this event!

We came slightly later and there was only "L" & "XL" size T-Shirts left....

Before the rally begins @ Yishun Safra.... Thanks to the team who took the pic for us, they had helped Jane and I to paste the sticker on the car too!

On you mark, Get set, Go!

Theme for today's challenges: Water. My brother got the instruction to set off for the 1st station.

1st Station @ West Coast, Challenge: Wheel Barrel. It is the most difficult challenge out of all the 5 stations, I can feel the strain at my abdomen and waist. And now, i am suffering from the aftermath effect, muscles ache... *argh*
Most trips to fill the bottle was done by Mark and my brother. I went for 2 trips and Jane went for 1, and it's really terrible, I wondered if the all girls team managed to finish this challenge.

After that, we went off to the next station at Sentosa Imbian in front of Images of Singapore. It was an easy task but our timing is not fantastic. The challenge is like shuttle run and filling a bottle using cups with holes. After which, we must solve a puzzle in order to complete the task.

A treat for us were the free ride at Sky Tower
After the ride, we set off to the 3rd Station at Choa Chu Kang Stadium. The worst thing that happened at this station was that my brother received a summon from the attendant. We are not sure if we need to pay for the carpark fees or not and after we got down the car for less than 5 min, he came to give the summon. My brother could not stop him in time. He was purposely giving summon to cars with the Carvivor Rally Sticker! He skipped those cars without the sticker and go straight to those with the stickers 1st... Dunno wat's wrong with him...

We also wasted quite some time for this station. We were suppose to use a small fishing rod to fish for styrofoam fish. Mark and I were both quite bad at it and we wasted some time. My brother caught 2 and Jane caught 1.

Then we move on the our 4th Station at Sin Ming Vicom at Bishan. The challenge is to stand at a disnce and fill a cup with water using straws. We did not bad here. It was quite funny seeing my brother filling in his mouth with lotsa water and blowing them into the straws, keke... I was there passing them straws only.

Then we moved on to our last station at Pasir Ris Park near Fishermen Village.
We have to use water gun to shot through a tracing ppr. It was quite an easy task, too.

But something happened to my brother's car when he was parking, something came loose.

Engineer at work... Other contestants were quite nice, a few of them offered to help us.
And finally, back to report at Yishun Safra. Our challenge timing is 1303 sec...
We won $10,000!!! Haha... Just kidding lah, we got the help from the DJ to take a picture with us and the cheque. Looks as if we won huh??? The winner's timing is 652 sec, how to win them sia? Our 1st station took us 542 sec liao, hahaha!

But i think the DJ's smile here should be much bigger than when he later shook hand with the winners. He finds it hilarous too! Thks to the team who helped us take the pictures, they have been really nice :)

After the mj session, we went to Kembangan to meet Dear dear for dinner. Boon Long leave so far, he almost miss the last train i guess... haha!!!

We met up at AMK bus interchange, but most of them were late. So Min, Ronald, Hx and I went to AMK 232 to queue for a table first. Luckily, we were there slightly earlier, if not we might have to wait for another 1-2 hours for the table *phew*

Dinner was ok, heard they said that the chilli crab not so nice. I ate the butter crab, it was quite nice :) We were all laughing our heads off when Yong Hao's crab shell flew over and hit a guy at the table behind us. *wahaha*

After the dinner, we took cab down to Mind's Cafe at Prinsep Street. We were enjoying ourselves there. The only bad point was that there are very few games for a group of 8-10 ppl...Opening the presents....

It was really nice of Mr Thomas Seet to prepare us for the Lehman Brother's talk.

We went to Raffles by the Plaza for the talk. Almost everyone is in their suit. And out of those wearing suit, 90% wore black. We felt as if we were in a "Black Hole" or there is some high class "underground society" celebration. Haha!!!
It was so hard to spot Lehman's staff as we were all dressed like them!

The food was ok, but too light so hanwen, weiliang and i went to suntec to meet gary and cheehong for dinner.
We went to NYDC for dinner before we went to Pacific Coffee Club to find Kev who was doing project with his friends there.

I had waited almost 3 weeks for my Fujitsu to come back from "repair".
It was not a repair actually. There was a scratch when I 1st got it, so I asked for an exchange and NTU Eight Flags refused. They insisted a DOA whereby my laptop was sent to Fujitsu Engineer to repair.

I was already very sianz after going to the NTU IT show for all the 3days and their stock was sold out everytime. Now that I order from the shop and I can't get it on the spot after paying!!! *pissed*
Wat's more??? the small scratch took them about 3 weeks to return my laptop to me... So disappointed in them.

Thks Dear for helping me to get the laptop and carry them home!!!

Attended the Adobe Flash Workshop which updated us on the Creative Suite 3 Flash functions. It was not so useful for Kev and I as we had not used Flash before and this workshop concentrated more on introducing how to use the new features

Evening was Deutsche Bank's Open House. The food was great, the beef and smoked Salmon taste fabulous *yummy* That was the most remarkable point of the event... Wanted to find out more about the bank, but it was quite difficult.

Went to SMRT HQ for briefing on SMRT challenge early in the morning with my brother.

After that we went to Suntec Convention Hall for IT show. This IT show started really late at 12pm. We were there at 10plus am. Luckily, we met Mansell, Tian Fa and Weitai who were going there for work and they smuggled us in.

I didn't get anything except a webcam. Cheap but works well, so it's good enough for me. Anyway, we don't use it often.

My brother signed for 2 years "Stuff" magazine for $100 which in return gave a free printer that worth $109. Good Deal huh. He needs a printer anyway, so he was really happy to get that. Before going home, we even went Sempon to get free glossy paper. So cheap skate, rite??? But it was quite fun to get free things, hahaha!!!

I went to meet my parents for a while at Macpherson as they are celebrating my mother's friend's birthday. Must go there show face for a while.

First time that my dad went up the stage to sing, hahaha!!!

Last Few Days of August
The last few days of August was madness.

Slept really late on the tuesday as we were rushing our AA306 report then after that I had to start doing my AA304 report.

Luckily the AA304 report was not that tedious, it was done quite fast.

A farewell dinner was organised. We were supposed to meet 6.30pm at Marina Bay MRT. I was already going to be late and it happened that I will be even later coz I went to help an 80-yr-old uncle who had fallen down.

He was burning offerings with his wife along the pavement when all of the sudden his legs gave way and he fell backwards. He was trying to get up by himself slowly when I saw him. Many people had said before, when an old person falls down, DO NOT help them up! Coz their blood might just rush up suddenly and they may faint or something. (Lemme noe if u noe the true scientific explanation ;p)

I don't know how true is that, but I rather believe it than to regret later. So I allowed him to stand up slowly before I held onto him. The auntie who had alerted me that the old man had fallen down came forward to help, too. As we were holding onto him, another uncle came to help, too.

As his wife continued to burn the offerings, we helped him to the void deck and let him rest there. He asked for his walking stick which is at his house. Following his neighbour who I happened to know, I went up to his house to get his walking stick from his daughter.

His daughter was sitting at the sofa enjoying her apple. When I told her that I need to get the walking stick from her coz her dad had fallen down, she was not a bit worried at all! She was even happier when I tell her that I will bring down the walking stick coz she would not need to go down on her own *Dumbfounded*

I passed the walking stick to the old uncle who said that he wanted to rest there for a while more before going back home with his wife, and I left for the gathering with the girls.

I took a cab and since Huixian is at Aljunied MRT, I went there to pick her up and go to Marina South together. We wanted to pick Julia up at Marina Bay MRT too. But Julia wanted to wait for the rest of the girls and so we went straight to Marina South 1st to look for seats 1st.

In the end, Lora and her bf-to-be went to pick Lei and Edmund, so Julia ended up alone at the MRT waiting for Min and Xian. I guess she was getting a little impatient ;) But tonight is her day, so she was not angry at all, hahaha... guess she knows our style liao. Being late is like a practice, but I am trying to get rid of it soon, back to the old punctual me.

Having Steamboat can be really messy, oily and sweaty... But it was quite fun once in a while :)

Went for the talk on "Doing Business in China". The speakers came from different background and it was quite interesting to listen to their speech.

There was one speaker who spoke in pure Chinese, so the people attending the talk who are non-chinese can only read some of the english translation on his slides... I think they must have been quite lost.

It was almost 9pm when the talk ended. Glad to see Liu Tong and William there coz we had not seen one another for quite long after we grad from Minor Batch 7.

After the talk, Dear Dear and I went to Jurong Point Fish & Co to celebrate our 21 mths ;p It had been quite some time since we last had dinner at a restaurant, hahaha!!!

Yummy food! We ordered platter for one, which excluded the Oyster which I don't really eat, but their calamaries quantity is so much that I felt as if they could never disappear from my plate, wahaha! And we ordered their Fish and Chips. And we got a voucher for a complimentary dish for our next visit as we paid the meal with Citibank card ;p Shall make good use of that voucher.

Kev and I went for the E&I forum and we meet Sophia there! She had graduated but she came down purposely for this talk as it was a forum involving some entrepreneurs telling us what are the roadblocks they face when doing business and when they are starting to do a business...

>> Going Back to TMS

It rained heavily that morning... dampen the motivation of those who wanted to attend TMS Alumni AGM...

Eventually, left Josh and I attended the AGM. We Tai, Mansell, Wei Nong and Yips who came did not want to go in to listen, they left the school soon.

When i stepped into TMS that day, a lot of memories floated in my mind... The most memorable place in TMS to me is actually the school parade square.
Why?
Firstly, we assemble there every morning for flag raising. Secondly, my favourite lesson, PE, is held there. Thirdly, I have to do sports captain duty there with members from TAF club, lastly and most importantly, I have netball training there...

The AGM was small, not many people attended. I was voted in by Clement and Noormah to be the exco member... Even though I am not too sure if I am able to contribute much to the club, I did not reject it. I just wanna help if I can. If there was no TMS, I wouldn't have all my good friends now...

It is a cafe selling Mexican food. I guess most of us are not too used to eating Mexican food, we couldn't finish the food. Perhaps I should have ordered steak instead of Chicken Buriton, which was wrapped in a thick layer of "prata". I ate 2/3 of the Chicken Buriton and I gave up on the remaining 1/3...

Today is the 1st day of Hungry Ghost Festival and the carpark was packed with cars!!! Cars honk here honk there...

Anyone guess the reason??? It is because of Getai! Oh my, lunar seven mth had always been quiet and people were quite cold towards Getai these few years but it is like the "in" thing this year. Perhaps it is due to the movie ongoing, "881", a local movie that illustrates the feeling of the director of the movie towards Getai and the losing significance of Getai in the eyes of the youngsters nowadays.

It's National Day!!! and it's Norasilah's Sister, Norazlina's Engagement!!!

Dear Dear and I went for the celebration at Bedok Reservoir.

While waiting for the Bride to arrive... I was requested by Silah's relative to sing a Chinese song "xiao1 sa3 zhou3 yi4 hui2" with her. It was my 1st time singing Karaoke at a void-deck... so paiseh. It was nice catching up with Silah as it had been more than a year since i last met her...

A little bit of cultural exchange info for you guys:

1) If u see a teapot on the table at a Muslim Wedding, pls do not drink from it. Coz... you are not suppose to, it's for them to wash their hands!!! Haha...

2) Wedding Favours: Eggs represents fertility (quite similar to chinese too i think)

3) At the engagement, the groom is not suppose to be there! Interesting leh...

1st week of school begins... and there are so many celebrations going on!

8 August 2007, Wednesday
Today is Lei's Bday. We met up at Hard Rock Cafe for dinner.
Me, Kev, Lora, Geline, Julia, Huixian Ziwei, Yong Hao, Edmund and Lei & Alex Chu were at the celebration.

Hui Yee came only after we sang Lei a bday song.
Lei had to stand on the chair like every other person who celebrates his/ her bday at Hard Rock Cafe.

Every 15min-30min, we hear bday songs, I wonder how many are real though. keke...

Very co-incidentally, the mudpie which Kev & I ordered came together with the Ice-cream cake we bought for Lei, everyone tot that the mudpie was a complimentary dessert from Hard Rock Cafe and everyone was happily eating our mudpie. Wahaha!!! It was perfectly ok lah, Kev & I could not finish that on our own anyway. It was just hilarious ("p)

After the dinner, we were discussing whether to go for TMS Alumni thingy next sat or not, I was glad to hear that many of them are interested coz i was thinking to ask them about it b4 i went there.

Today is Julia's Bday, before we went to SurfnTurf for Dinner, we went to Raffles City and let our bday girl pick her present tt's within our budget ;p

For the Dinner, Lei, Lora, Me, Xian, Huixian, Evelyn, Ze Da, Mansell, Yips, Darren and, of course, Julia were there.
It was my 1st time there. The steak i ordered taste not bad, their pasta and soup are not bad too. I am not too sure about the rest :)

GENTING TRIP

Day 1: Going to Genting

Xian, Julia and Dear Dear came my house to stay overnight the day before and early in the morning my papa sent us to Golden Mile before he went for work. We had our breakfast at the coffeeshop, Kev's family, Uncle Philip and Bernard came to join us at our table. Feel so sorry for Raz, wasted his $63... A lesson learnt: Always rmbr to check ur passport expiry date before you book any tix to go overseas. Checked in at Genting, got Tower 2 8th floor, can walk directly to the First World Cafe wor. We left our baggages at Uncle Philip's room 1st before we went for dinner coz all of rooms had not been cleaned yet. Dinner at Tong Luo Wan was not bad but Julia had to eat her Pork Cutlet Curry Rice coz Karen had mistakenly eaten Julia's Chicken Cutlet Curry Rice. Oops... Pork.. yes, pork. Thks Julia for being so polite and eaten it without a word of complain...

After having our meal, we went back to Uncle Philip's room to get our baggage to put in our room before we went out again.

Another surprise on the table when I was back from lunch. It's coffee nougat and Mua Chee that Doreen bought from Taiwan! Not bad lah, at least got something different on my table before my internship ends next week.

Saw Meifeng at Paya Lebar MRT stn while i was on the train, wanted to call her to come in but she didn't see. So I jumped out of the train instead and took the next train with her.
Heard from her that wy, hw and gary gg to restaurant for lunch tgt today... wow 3 of them very rich hor (^,^)

Went for ETF Seminar @ SGX Centre 1 in the evening. They started the Seminar late, and I almost fell asleep. The speaker was quite monotonous. Even though she tried to crack some jokes but her monotonous tone killed it.

Felt so much like leaving my seat and go home, but thinking that it will be quite rude to the speaker, I rooted my butt on the Auditorium seat till the whole seminar ended at 8plus.

When i got out of SGX Centre, the sky was dark but the environment was bright with lightings all over and ppl having dinner. It looked so unfamiliar to me that I almost lost my way... The road that I crossed in the evening from Lau Par Sat to the SGX Centre was closed and turned into a night Hawker Centre *stunned*. I confirmed that it is the road when i saw the traffic light which is of no use at the moment as the road is closed. Perhaps I should go there for dinner someday :)

Met Meifeng at Eunos MRT when I was going to work in the morning. So we decided to have lunch tgt at Lau Par Sat. It had been a few mths since i last saw her. I was so glad that we manage to catch up with each other over lunch. One gossip for today... WenQi has a boyfriend!!! I saw the 2 of them holding hands when I was going back to office after lunch! Hmm... WenQi nv inform us... she's gg to get it when sch reopens, haha... will make her tell us the whole story, keke...

Another surprise on the table after the lunch today. It's biscuits from Japan! It is really nice of Mr. Ang to give us some foodstuff that he bought from Japan, at least he didn't forget us, the 2 interns there :D

In the evening, Dear dear came to Raffles Place to meet me and we walked to City Hall to meet Hanwen and Gary.
Lunch at Marina Sq Foodcourt before we move on to Intro Bar. It was our 1st time there, recommended by Hanwen. We saw Daemon and his friends at Raffles City, we asked them to join us, but i dunno why they ended up going up to New Asia Bar, haha... Guess there was some miscommunication and they tot we are going up.

The ambience at Intro Bar is not bad, the only -ve point is that they allow ppl to smoke there. For smokers, it's a +ve point though. Perhaps my throat was already unwell tt day, I was quite irritated by the smoke. Same goes for Gary who was feeling unwell.
Coco Loco was definitely a smart choice i guess, i enjoyed the drink very much. Dear dear's Greenspace or windspace (I can't hear the name properly tt day) was a bit too gassy. No MelonBall, thk u. It really tastes like cough syrup *yuckz* But gary finished it anyway.

Desmond came to join us at 9plus and soon after, Weiliang, Fengyi, Joel & Karen came to join us, too. It was a pleasant gathering :) Talked about a lot of stuff including some gossips, hahaha... I think gossips usually exist when ppl with common friends come together & chit chat. It was my 1st time meeting Weiliang, Fengyi, Joel & Karen outside school. I think we should have this kind of gathering ocassionally before we grad, when all of us are still quite carefree...

The 1st thing I come to my office today, I saw food on my table. It's breakfast for us from Lynn. Wow, she actually bought breakfast for us :) Wat a surprise!
Lunched with Lei today. The meal that she bought from Select really looked tempting... But I muz persevere... Diet diet diet...

After work, I went to Dear dear's house 1st before we went to meet Royston, Chee Hong & Kenneth at Eunos and we had Bah Kut Teh and Rojak... My Diet... Haiz... I think I can only diet for lunch only, is this going to work???
After the dinner, they went to Joo Chiat for Roti Prata with Ming Chew... And i went home, still have to work tml leh...

Then when I had juz fallen aslp, a call came. On my hp screen showed my brother's hp number. The person on the phone was a girl and she sounds totally like Lei. I tot die, my phone something wrong liao, Lei called and it appeared my Brother's hp number...

Luckily that was not the case, it's my brother who called and passed the phone to Lei. They met one another at Phuture. Haiz... frightened me, I tot my phone is like my sis's prev sony ericsson hp, when person A calls u, the hp shows person B's name and contact number... Diaoz...
And after the call, that night I kena sore throat in the middle of the night... Haiz..

After work, I went to TM to meet Dear dear, Bernard and Karin for dinner and movie. My papa & mama came to meet me, too, to settle some stuff.
My parents went shopping when we went for Fantastic 4. It was ok but the show doesn't really have a climax. Perhaps, the story was quite short.

Btw, I think I had been giving TM a miss for quite some time, TM actually have escalators that lead you from outside of TM to the 2nd flr of TM now! A bit like Lido... but of a smaller scale.

Everyone loves our 1/2 yr old Hector too! He is so smart, he looks into the camera whenever i want to take picture of him! I think they can bring him for makeover liao ;p

Celebrated Father's Day with my whole family, including Jane & his nephew & Dear dear @ Eunos Coffeeshop Zhu3 Chao3. We went there partly is because Chef Tan is there, so we went there to try the food. It was not bad but not fantastic. Anyway, it's not cooked by Chef Tan, I saw him juz helping a bit here and there in the Kitchen. But he's one of the boss there mah, so i dun think he needs to cook there most of the time ba.

Before I met up with Dear dear, I went to OG PP to look for my friends who are working as sale promoters there. It had been a long time since I last saw them, it was really nice to chat with them again and find out how they are doing. Mingyi is giving birth soon!!! So fast, another Comoditee bb, keke...
After tt I went to People's Park Centre to buy the Mango with Pomelo and Sago Dessert for Dear dear to try.

Met Dear dear at Dhoby Ghaut & had our dinner at Paradiz Foodcourt. Cheehong & Kenneth came to join us 1st before we went to look for Royston at the Gaming Shop. In the end, they nv join Royston for the game and the 4 of us went to eat Selegie Dou Hua. Getting fat liao... haiz...

Kev & I went to Down Town East to meet my mama, aunt & hector for breakfast.

Hector is still as chubby as ever, I couldn't carry him for long coz he's kinda heavy though only 6mths old....

In the afternoon, Kev & I went to the temple at Bugis to pray & we finally bought our hp plastic protection covers. Luckily we found the shop which sold these covers at only $3!!!

Kev's family celebrated Father's Day 1 week earlier at Hong Xing Restaurant.

After the lunch there, Kev's father went home with his grandma and the rest of us went walk walk.

We went to the "Fo Ya Shi" which had juz opened for a week or so. It was really magnificent, embellised in red & gold color. They even sew scenary onto the walls!

But I had to walk around in Sarong coz my skirt was too short, and Kev's sis & mum had to cover their shoulder with a cloth as their sleeves were not long enough. Haha!!!

This reminds me of last year's SMRT Challenge whereby we have to wear sarong to play chap-teh, hahaha!!!

Boring day coz i was on MC. Luckily Kev was having break so at least got my dear dear to accompany me. Since we had the time, we went to Bedok with my mama to look for CD & to buy some stuff from Sheng Siong.

Sheng Siong is really spending a lot on their marketing, dunno wat is their rate of return on marketing, wahaha!!! How to calculate rate of return on marketing??? Pls refer to Principle of Marketing by Philip Kotler & Gary Armstrong. Think I am really bored...

This post is to Thank my Brother Philip Phee, those uncles (esp uncle Eddie) & the security guards who had helped me to chase after the snatch thief at Orchid Country Club (Yishun) last night.

Besides my own brother, everyone who helped out were uncles, the younger guys were not helpful at all. Think i am really changing my perspective of younger and older guys. I respect these uncles who was even more enthu than my own brother. I do not despise those younger guys who didn't help, but I have to remind myself not to be like them. Their behaviour was not what i wanna be.

I really have to praise my own brother too, if not for his alertness, i guess the snatch thief would have gotten away. And thks to Uncle Eddie coz if he didn't shouted so loud along the chase, no ppl would have notice & came to help. No awards for them from the Police, but they all earned my respect *salute*

Work & work everyday, Monday, Friday, Monday, Friday, tt's working life. But at least sat & sun are free!!! unlike studying. monday, sunday, monday, sunday, studying & projects, no rest.
This week is the company's last week at Ocean Building, we are moving!

On Thursday, we had bah kut teh @ Eunos
Happy 18 months!!!

On Friday, went to Macpherson kopitiam to have dinner with my family. CRABS!!! my fav!
It was our 1st time patronizing tt stall. Comments from my family members are that the chilli crab was lousy. The steamed crab was okay with me and I was okay with it. hahaha!!!
All of us think that the fried buns were the best. But my careless mum ordered 20 of them without 1st asking how big the buns are. And the buns were doubled the size of the normal buns! We da bao 10 buns home in the end. Diaoz and tt become my breakfast for the next day...

On sat, I went to China Sq Teahouse with Dear to have dinner with his family & relatives. I felt that the standard of the desserts there dropped...
Anyway, got to see Dominic, he's still so naughty but cute. He like Dear alot
At the end of the dinner, he even invite Dear to his house!!! He sounded as if he owned the house on his own, wahaha!!!

Stayed overnight at Dear's hse to help out with his minor project the next morning. We balance the balance sheet, Yeah!

14 - 20 May 2007, Monday to Sunday

14th May 2007 marks the 1st week of my 2nd internship in my life.

Went to Ocean Building, find my way through some familiar places & found the HR personnel in charge.
Josh is my co-intern. We signed the contract, got our pass & punch card. Then we started working in the Finance Dept. Everything is fine, but nothing exciting...

Lunch time!!! Dear came to accompany me *hugz* thks... really appreciate it...

But it was so crowded everywhere I dun feel like eating...

For the rest of the week, I lunch with Min, Lei & Lora. Thks girl, it had been great gg lunch with u all! Reminds me of our sec sch days in Temasek...

On Friday after work, met up with my Poly friends whom I had seen for quite some time.

There were Junliang & Christina, Qinghao, Meili, Caihong, Pin Pin, Huifang & Sunny. We had our dinner @ Sakura. It was expensive... but the food was good. I feel so full after the buffet.. think my stomach gg to burst at anytime.

Agnes call ended my buffet. Our vegetarian girl who can only join us after our dinner, really appreciate her effort to turn up for the gathering. We shopped with her and we bought some ear rings. Agnes... go get ur ear punched lah, so we can buy ear rings tgt next time ;p

We had no where to hang out so we ended up at Cineleisure E-gaming Room for an hr, $10/hr.

After that alot of ppl went home, left me, Huifang, Sunny & Qinghao. We decided to continue hanging out, but it was going to rain soon. So, Qinghao needed to ride his bike back home 1st and the rest of us went to Sunny's hse to get his pickup.

After that, we went to pick up Qinghao before going to Bedok Mac. But i think all of us old liao, we were all quite tired at 2plus am... hahaha... so Sunny sent us home.

On Saturday, I went shopping @ AMK with my parents as my mum wanna see the new AMK interchange. I bought a set of pearl jewelry, those fake one lor, but i think they match what i wanna wear for my cousin's wedding tml ba.

We then left AMK for Charles & Keith Warehse Sales. My aunt joined us, too!
I got myself a pair of slip-ons, my mum bought 1 pair for my sis, and my aunt bought 3 pairs for my cousin-in-law! My dad waited outside for us, keke...

On Sunday, my sis, mum & I went to my cousin's Wedding Tea Ceremony. My dad came from his work for about an hr before he rush back to work again. He came in his white uniform, and everyone says that he look as if he is MP coming for election, haha!!!

It was simple ceremony. A fulfillment of my 4th Uncle's dream, even though he could nv get to see it with his own eyes...

In the afternoon before the Wedding Dinner, I went to Dear's house for a while...

Wedding Dinner was at Amara Hotel. The hotel changed so much!!!
At the dinner, I saw many relatives whom I can't recognise, Esp my newphews & nieces, hahaha!!

Take a look at my cousin who had attended the wedding, she is almost doubled my age! Beside her is her dad, my 2nd Uncle, who looks so much like my dad. keke...

After the dinner, we all went our ways again, waiting for the next wedding of our relatives so that we will see one another again, keke...

My uncle Ah Gu was so comical, he could not find where he had parked his car!!! Hahaha!!! At the end, it was us who saw his car when we drove by it! So blur, then kena suan by my kor kor.

Even though Dear still feel a bit sick, we went over to Royston house to play Mj with Royston, Kenneth, Ming Chew & Chee Hong.

Kev & I are the biggest winner!!! Kenneth in 2nd place. Royston lost, but Chee Hong lost even more coz we all collude against him openly, wahaha!!!
We managed to caught the last bus to Kenneth's house & he drove us home in his dad's car.

John Little was having sales wor! Bought 3 shirts for myself ;p Kev bought a pair of cufflinks, and 2 pairs of pants... We seldom spend like this wor, think we must be in good shopping mood today! It's juz after examz and before my internship and his minor ma, so muz enjoy!!!

Actually before we went to John Little, we went to Raffles City Robinson and Central @ Clark Quay, too. So we only had about 1-2 hrs to shop @ John Little as we had to leave for Bedok 85 to meet his friends. But i dun think i bought anything on impulse. Haha.

Went to Bedok with Xian to cut hair. It's quite cheap, $10 only, and their skills are quite good wor.

My hair now is much shorter now, much more cooling too ;p
After we cut our hair, we went to East Coast to meet Caiying & Meihua for cycling. The rental was a bargain too, only 4bucks for 2hrs, & a free drink @ the end of the 2hrs. It was quite fun & relaxing, had not cycled for a few months liao, it feels good to cycle during weekdays when there are no ppl blocking ur way.

We then left East Coast for Bedok, xian and meihua went to meet caiying & I went to look for dear dear. He's back from OBS!

My poor dear dear was sun burnt & even have rope burn on his left hand... Feeling feverish and having headache... *hugz*

Early in the morning at 5am (only slept for 2hrs!!!), i had to wake up & prep to leave for Tampines. Why? Coz I was gg on a trip to KotaTinggi with my parents and my sis.

The trip was not exciting at all... we were on the bus most of the time.

Celebration of Sunny & Meili Bday

Yixian and i went to Bedok 85 after slacking for a few hours @ Julia's house. But she left soon after Meili, Sunny & Sook Kuan came to meet me for supper.

I didn't noe today's purpose is to celebrate their Bday until when we are leaving for Meili's hostel @ NTU.

After celebrating, it's time to do work. We helped Meili pack her stuff and carry them to Sunny's van. Poor Sunny... He had to carry the TV and the Fan... Tt's the price for the cake, keke...
By the time i got home, it's 1plus in the morning liao... slept at 3am...
